Congratulations to the Class of 2021, and sincerest appreciation to everyone in the college community who has dedicated their daily work in support of our students’ efforts to reach this important milestone. Today, many dreams are a step closer to being realized for the over 4,000 graduates of Suffolk County Community College.

Please join in the celebration and excitement of today by taking some time to view our virtual commencement ceremony video online.

The 30-minute virtual ceremony features an address by Interim President Louis Petrizzo, followed by congratulatory greetings from Board of Trustee Chair E. Christopher Murray, Foundation Board Chair Belinda Alvarez-Groneman, and College Vice President Paul Beaudin.  It also includes speeches by our three campus student speakers: Dylan Miller from the Ammerman Campus, Marlena Titus from the Eastern Campus and Katelyn Dorchak from the Michael J. 6/16/21 United Way’s Virtual Salute and Recognition Ceremony Honoring Four Individuals Associated with Suffolk County Community College

Home

The United Way sponsors its Wall of Heroes in order to recognize individuals who have brought optimism to others in a year that has been extraordinarily challenging. Through acts of kindness, courage and care, they have made a positive impact on Long Island. This includes champions from healthcare, retail, restaurant, non-profit, food grocery, public service, education, small businesses, labor unions, and more.

Four individuals associated with Suffolk County Community College have been selected for inclusion on the United Way’s Virtual Wall of Heroes: Interim President Louis J. Petrizzo for his leadership and resolve in guiding the College through the pandemic; Foundation Board Vice Chair Michael J. Grant who provided comfort for many dealing with personal loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic; Board of Trustee and Foundation Board member Belinda Pagdanganan, who mobilized an effort to show appreciation to first responders; and Special Events Team Specialist Danielle Groneman who co-founded the first disability-inclusive field hockey program in the United States, Field Hockey for All.

On June 16th, at 1 p.m., a virtual salute and recognition ceremony has been scheduled.
